January 2019 Social Content Planner + Freebie!

There is no denying that content is king. But, sometimes it seems like creating content becomes a full-time job. And, that's not even including solving the questions of what to post.

I'll be totally honest, I have a love-hate relationship with my Instagram. I love it because I've been on Instagram since the beginning of Instagram time and have gotten 80% of my business from it. I hate it because it’s hard to keep up with--posting, tracking engagement, hashtags, and the darn algorithm.

Sometimes I just want to post just to post, rather than make sure there is the perfect amount of millennial pink and airy fluffiness feel in every picture. I thought about starting a movement where everyone agrees to stop making beautiful Instagram feeds. We all agree to just post whatever we want, but decided not to go through with it. I'm kidding... that just gives me nightmare thoughts of the MySpace days when everyone was learning HTML, and everyone's pages were so EXTRA! (Yup. I only dated myself. If you were born before 1990, I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about.)

I hear this a lot from many creatives, bloggers, and small biz owners, that part of a headache befalls because they don’t plan ahead. You wake up each day and think, “Hmm, what can I post on Instagram today.”

Then spend 30 minutes walking around the house gathering notebooks, pens, random props, throw pillows and coffee mug to try to arrange the perfect picture flatlay in the ideal lighting. It doesn’t work out. So you throw a little piece of greenery that has nothing to do with your business in there to make the picture look better.

Before you get frustrated, social media is essential for business. When I shifted how I think about my Instagram and social media in general. It became less of a headache and more of an opportunity to attract new clients. However, it’s unrealistic for me to create a network that is up to my standards if I’m scrambling to find something every morning. Hence the reason why I utilize content calendars to plan ahead, not just for myself but for my clients as well.

If you want to have a consistent social presence that represents you and your brand, you have to plan ahead. What better opportunity then to create new habits and goals than the beginning of the year?

I've created my simple method for how I come up with Content for my social accounts and for clients! If you plan to use this, tag #VFDIYSocial! I want to see what you post!
